After running Windows Update, and restarting Windows, the Netgear WG111v2 Wireless USB adapter worked like a charm. My advice is to try downloading the driver through Windows Update before downloading it from unknown or dubious sources. Windows 7 automatically installs some NETGEAR adapters without prompting you. This occurs because Windows 7 has some adapter drivers built-in; the automatic installation of these drivers is an expected function. This happens when: • A supported adapter is inserted into a laptop or PC. • A laptop or PC with a supported adapter already installed boots up. Help and Reminders: • Microsoft Windows 7 drivers are part of Windows 7 operating system. NETGEAR does not have access to the drivers and can not support them. • To download official NETGEAR drivers or software, please visit this link: • To find help for issues with Microsoft Windows 7 drivers, please visit this link: When Windows 7 detects an adapter, you will see the following message in the status bar: It might take several seconds for Windows to install the driver software. Once the device driver has been successfully installed, Windows displays a message such as the following: For some adapters, Windows displays the chip vendor name instead of NETGEAR. This is not an error, and the device should still function as expected. Once the device has been installed, click the wireless icon in the Windows menu bar. You should now be able to see available networks in the Wireless Network Connection list. I just upgraded my computer to Windows 7 64 bit and wanted to use the WG111v2 with my new computer. The CD did not work, so I went to the page on the Netgear site to see if they had any new drivers for Windows 7. The driver download page () clearly stated that it worked with Windows 7 64 bit. I carefully followed the instructions to install the driver version 4.0.0 making sure to uninstall all traces of NETGEAR from my computer and making sure no driver existed on the adapter. I then unplugged the adapter from the USB slot and commenced installation. The software seemed to install correctly. Everything went smoothly until I got to step 14-15 from the instructions on the download page. SWiSH Max4 v4.0 Full Version Incl Crack Full. Viewed 4,796. I made sure to plug the adapter in just as step 13 asked and I saw the blue light and pressed next. The window disappeared and all that was left was the installation icon on the bottom of the screen. I assumed that the installer was doing its job and after about 10 minutes the icon disappeared from the bottom of the screen. There were more steps in the installation process but nothing else happened. I tried running the newly installed Smart Wizard but nothing happened when I double clicked except for a new process taking up RAM and processing power. I thought that perhaps it was a fluke and some obscure error was preventing the installation. So I restarted the computer ran the installer again which uninstalled the old software. The installer got to the same point when it just froze or stopped working. I tried all manner of things. I tried using the automatic updates by getting internet from my laptop. I scoured google for answers. I tried using the installer in many different ways including compatibility modes. I tried earlier versions of the driver in compatibility modes. I even tried obscure third party drivers but to no avail. The only thing I can possibly conclude is that while the adapter has been confirmed working in 32 bit Windows 7 no one has reported it working in 64 bit windows. ![]() ![]() The Netgear site clearly states that it works with 64 bit windows 7! Is this a conscious ploy to extort more money from costumers by forcing them to buy a new adapter or is there no driver testing? When I spend $50 for the adapter I expected it to work on any windows device with USB. Why would something that works on Windows XP not work on Windows 7? I have been buying from Netgear a long time but I might have to switch with this level of quality and clunky software. I hope this is not the case maybe someone can change my mind. So u have that it stops after the screen it tells u to insert the usb that means it hust hangs after the driver for the usb has been properly installed if that is the case.then its very simple just go to control panel and network and internet and network and sharing centre and left side change adapter settings look for wireless network conection.do u find it??u must have the usb plugged in rite now if yes, u find it then look it says not connected or disabled if not connected then good, if disabled then right click and enable then right click and hit connect disconnect.
